Ingredients
1.5 lbs inside round or sirloin steak, cut into about 3/4” chunks
2 – 14 ounce cans of beef broth, or your own beef broth
3 carrots, cut into about ½” chunks
1 large onion, wedged
2 to 3 celery stalks, chunked
½ to ¾ cup regular barley
½ cup water
1 to 2 bay leaves
1 tsp dried thyme
2 to 4 minced garlic cloves
salt & pepper to taste 

Place all ingredients into slow cooker. Mix. Slow cook on low for 8 hours, or high for 5 hours. Remove bay leaf & serve.
Side with a biscuit or bun and enjoy!
